Shaanxi Heavy Truck Export: Achieving Remarkable Results with a Favorable Trend

In recent years, the export of heavy-duty trucks from Shaanxi Automobile has shown a favorable growth trend. In 2023, Shaanxi Automobile exported 56,499 heavy-duty trucks, with a year-on-year increase of 64.81%, outperforming the overall heavy-duty truck export market by nearly 6.8 percentage points. On January 22, 2024, the Shaanxi Automobile Heavy Truck Overseas Brand SHACMAN Global Partner Conference (Asia-Pacific) was held in Jakarta. Partners from countries such as Indonesia and the Philippines shared success stories, and representatives of four partners signed sales targets of several thousand vehicles.

On January 31 and February 2, 2024, SHACMAN also released recruitment information for distributors and service providers in the Asia-Pacific region (including South Asia, Southeast Asia, and Oceania). In 2023, SHACMAN’s sales in the Asia-Pacific region increased by nearly 40%, with a market share of nearly 20%. Currently, Shaanxi Automobile Delong X6000 has achieved batch introduction in countries such as Morocco, Mexico, and the United Arab Emirates, and Delong X5000 has achieved batch operation in 20 countries. At the same time, SHACMAN’s offset terminal trucks have landed in large international ports in Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Turkey, South Africa, Singapore, the United Kingdom, Poland, Brazil, etc., becoming a major brand in the international terminal truck segment.

For example, Shaanxi Automobile Xinjiang Co., Ltd., leveraging the regional and resource advantages of Xinjiang, has seen an explosive growth in export orders. From January to August 2023, it produced a total of 4,208 heavy-duty trucks, of which more than half of the vehicles were exported to the Central Asian market, with a year-on-year increase of 198%.

In the entire year of 2023, the company produced and sold 5,270 heavy-duty trucks, of which 3,990 were exported, representing a year-on-year growth of 108%. In 2024, the company expects to produce and sell 8,000 heavy-duty trucks and will further increase its export share by establishing overseas warehouses and other means. The overall export of heavy-duty trucks in China has also shown a growth trend. According to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and public data, in 2023, China’s cumulative export of heavy-duty trucks reached 276,000 units, a nearly 60% (58%) increase compared to 175,000 units in 2022. Some institutions believe that the demand for heavy-duty trucks in overseas markets continues to grow. Chinese heavy-duty trucks have upgraded from high cost performance to high-end, and with the advantages of products and supply chains, their exports are expected to continue to grow. It is expected that the export of heavy-duty trucks in 2024 will still remain at a high level and is expected to exceed 300,000 units.

The growth in heavy-duty truck exports is attributed to various factors. On one hand, the demand for heavy-duty trucks in some countries in Latin America and Asia, which are the main export destinations of China’s heavy-duty trucks, has gradually recovered, and previously suppressed rigid demand has been further released. On the other hand, the investment models of some heavy-duty truck enterprises have changed. They have transformed from the original trade model and partial KD model to a direct investment model, and the directly invested factories have mass-produced and increased production and sales volumes abroad. In addition, countries such as Russia, Mexico, and Algeria have imported a large number of Chinese heavy-duty trucks and have shown a high year-on-year growth rate, driving the growth of the export market.
